Meme-a-licious! [Jun. 26th, 2009|12:37 pm]

Set your music player to shuffle. Write down the first line of each of the first 20 songs and post the poem that results. The first line of the 21st song is your title.

Make some noise!

Strangelove
You'll always find me near
Iron man
So many men, so little time

Feelings
What would you think
All ye faithful,
The rage in my eyes

Jump
Today is the greatest
Yeah, yeah
You know it's kind of hard

Weeeeeee!
Got a feeling inside
I guess I didn't know
By starlight

---------------
Snipped a couple of words to make it flow better, but they're pretty easy to identify. Also, it's really hard to find 20 consecutive songs when I set to shuffle and even harder to find 20 songs with lyrics. :)

I'm moving in the middle of April, and there's an Indian reservation in the town where I'm going. It's given me cause to consider a wide variety of social implications which I have made a habit of ignoring in my life. I was losing rather a lot of sleep trying to make peace with once again living near such sentiment; couldn't figure out what part of it bothered me so much.

Turns out the reason I think separation (or anything really) by race bothers me so much is that it causes something which no one has any control over about themselves to matter.

I hate that it matters.

I had a nice post all thought out while I was at work, but then I got the worst headache I've had in years, came home to a frozen pipe (in spite of water left trickling), and a whole mess of hurting to move. So I'll get that update posted sometime before I die.

Hope 2009's treating you well!

Instructions: Turn to page 123 of a book. Read sentences 5-8 on that page.

...So I tripped across this meme on a blog I like to read and thought I'd give it a try. Turns out most of my books don't yield much either coherent or good by taking this approach to light reading. I was, however, amused by the snippet I found in Stranger in a Strange land:

"Mike would have been apologetic over having 'wasted food' - namely your beefy carcass. But he wouldn't feel guilty about killing you; that would be a necessity you forced on him... and not important, even to you. You see, Mike believes that your soul is immortal."

Freya

In Norse mythology, Freya is a goddess of love and fertility, and the most beautiful and propitious of the goddesses. She is the patron goddess of crops and birth, the symbol of sensuality and was called upon in matters of love. She loves music, spring and flowers, and is particularly fond of the elves (fairies). Freya is one of the foremost goddesses of the Vanir.

Neutral Good Human Ranger (4th Level) [Jan. 19th, 2008|08:52 pm]

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Ranger (4th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-15

Dexterity-14

Constitution-15

Intelligence-17

Wisdom-12

Charisma-15

Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band. (If it's the entry for a real musician or band, cheating with a reload is probably a good idea.)

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, et voilĂ .

Colors, a meme [Aug. 12th, 2007|04:50 pm]

...Also a quick update. I've realized that I'm amazingly unwilling to sit down and just write about the past few months so instead I'm going to sum up: I was fired (in the most poorly-managed way possible) and used the opportunity to transition into massage therapy. I'm now working at a spa & a chiropractor for a total of 6 days a week, and I'm loving it oh so much more than being a secretary. Hooray for assholes prompting positive changes! On with the meme...

..but all I've got is a meme. Life's been crazy lately. I may post a detailed version in the next few days if I have time to write one. The short version: ZOMG! I'm not doing the admin thing anymore, and I'm going crazy interviewing for massage. Also, my old boss is a real git.

Your Score: Picket Fence

Your Heart is 39% Guarded

Well, chances are that you attract a lot of potential partners, whether you know it or not. You reveal enough about yourself to keep them interested, but you keep the really private stuff to yourself. While someone won't be able to just waltz up to your heart and grab it, he/she probably won't have to work too hard to get you to open up.
